SAP recently outlined its vision for artificial intelligence in the business world at Sapphire 2023. Their offerings, such as SAP Business AI, Green Ledger, and other ready-to-use innovations in their portfolio, enable customers to tackle their most pressing problems.

TURKEY - At the SAP Sapphire event in Orlando, SAP unveiled a range of new products and collaborations aimed at helping customers face an uncertain future with confidence. SAP announced it would integrate robust artificial intelligence capabilities into its portfolio to enable customers to address critical issues concerning business processes. The announcement included several enhancements to SAP Business AI, such as innovations that personalise customer interaction, make procurement more efficient, and expand organisations' capabilities to find and develop critical skills across the workforce.

With embedded artificial intelligence in business solutions, ledger-based accounting for carbon tracking, and sector-specific networks to support supply chain resilience among its notable announcements, SAP is helping customers shift their business models to the cloud. This allows businesses to put sustainability at the heart of their operations and increase their agility to succeed under constantly changing conditions.

At the event, SAP CEO Christian Klein said, "In a world marked by market disruptions, changing regulatory environments, and skill gaps, our customers are choosing SAP for the solutions they need to solve their most pressing problems. The innovations we announced at SAP Sapphire are designed with decades of industry and process expertise, responsibly developed and leverage our legacy of enterprise technology, ensuring the success of our customers both today and in the future."

Artificial intelligence in service of the business world

SAP also leverages the power of its rich ecosystem to benefit its customers. They announced a new step in their long-term collaborations with Microsoft. The two companies will cooperate to integrate SAP SuccessFactors solutions with Viva Learning and Copilot in Microsoft 365 and Azure OpenAI to access powerful language models that analyse and generate natural language. These integrations will provide new experiences designed to improve organisations' methods of attracting, retaining, and skilling up their employees.

An essential step in sustainability

Fifty years ago, SAP revolutionised financial accounting with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). Today, SAP is redefining the "R" (Resource) in ERP by expanding the definition of resources to include carbon.

Amid rapidly changing legislative requirements and increasing pressure from stakeholders to operate sustainably, organisations need an auditable, transparent, and reliable emission accounting system as their financial data. With SAP's new Green Ledger solution, companies can manage their green lines with clarity, accuracy, and confidence, just like their profit and loss accounts.

SAP announced an update to SAP Sustainability Footprint Management, a single solution for calculating and managing emissions at all corporate, value chain, and product levels. SAP also introduced SAP Sustainability Data Exchange, a new solution that allows organisations to securely share standardised sustainability data with business partners and suppliers to decarbonise their supply chains more quickly.

Innovations in the portfolio, platform, and ecosystem increase customers' resilience. SAP announced several other innovations in its portfolio. For example, leveraging the success of the SAP Business Network, a comprehensive B2B collaboration platform where approximately $4.5 trillion worth of trade takes place annually, they introduced the SAP Business Network for Industry. This platform combines the benefits of network-connected supply chains with SAP's unique industry expertise to rapidly increase supply chain resilience for customers across consumer products, high-tech, industrial manufacturing, and life sciences.

Innovations launched on the SAP Business Technology Platform significantly accelerate business process optimisation and bring scalable enterprise automation. Developments in SAP Signavio mean customers can gain critical process insights in hours, not days. Updates to SAP Integration Suite bring holistic processes together across SAP and non-SAP systems within the company and in the cloud.
