ISTANBUL (TR) - With the arrival of March 8, International Women's Day, the ongoing discussions on gender equality in the business world are on the agenda again. While the data on the subject point out that women make up 45.9% of the global workforce, this rate remains at 34.5% in Turkey. However, research indicates that increasing the female employment rate in OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) countries to the level of Sweden will increase the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) by 6 million dollars.

While the efforts carried out around the world to increase the participation of women in business life are gaining momentum day by day, a support for women entrepreneurs in our country comes from virtual offices. Gökhan Doğru, Managing Partner of Unusual Office, said, “Although the employment of women in our country lags far behind those of men, there is a steady increase in the number of women entrepreneurs. However, especially during the pandemic period, women entrepreneurs are the segment most affected by economic fluctuations. At this point, Unusual Office, we create special campaigns for women entrepreneurs and we are proud to be by their side as they achieve new successes.”

The number of women entrepreneurs increased by 2%!

Based on the data published by TURKSTAT in December, Gökhan Doğru stated that 9.64 million women are employed in our country and said, “One out of every 10 women who join the workforce is either an employer or self-employed. According to the report published by the Turkish Enterprise and Business Confederation (TÜRKONFED), while the number of women entrepreneurs in our country is increasing day by day, 84.3% of them were adversely affected by the epidemic, especially during the pandemic period. At this point, we have launched an indefinite campaign to support women entrepreneurs on the occasion of March 8, International Women's Day. Women entrepreneurs who need a legal business address when establishing a company will be able to benefit from our virtual office service free of charge for the first 1 month.”

25% of the members are women entrepreneurs

Noting that the support they give to women entrepreneurs is not limited to this campaign and that they have been carrying out many activities since 2016, Unusual Office Managing Partner Gökhan Doğru said, “We have more than 400 members in total at our 3 branches in Cadddebostan and Balat in Istanbul and Çankaya in Ankara. 25% of our members are women entrepreneurs. Many of the female members of Unusual Office are active in areas such as e-commerce, advertising, translation, law, architecture, art, psychology and social media, and expressed the advantages offered by the virtual office to its members with these words: takes advantage. While the first of these is the possibility of renting an office with postpaid, withholding and no commitment, we also have opportunities such as call and mail forwarding, meeting and free workspace use. While our members are getting ready to achieve new successes, they can also experience the first fusion beverage cuisine of Turkey, Unusual Coffees.”
