The International Executive MBA Program, jointly delivered in Istanbul by BMI Business School Istanbul and IAE Paris Sorbonne Business School, has celebrated its second cohort of graduates with a prestigious commencement ceremony held at the historic Paris campus of Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
In this second edition, 27 senior executives graduated from the Istanbul class, bringing the total number of alumni from the Istanbul program to over 50. The third cohort is currently underway and is expected to graduate in May 2026.
Graduates of the program were awarded the official Master of Business Administration (MBA) diploma from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne fully accredited under the European Higher Education standards. This globally respected qualification not only reflects the academic excellence of the program but also equips participants with a powerful career advantage in the international business arena.
Now in its third year in Turkey, the Executive MBA program has earned a strong reputation among senior professionals seeking to strengthen their global leadership capabilities through an international and practice-based learning experience.
Running from October 2023 to March 2025, the 18-month program offered immersive modules in Istanbul, Paris, and Prague, covering areas such as strategic management, finance, marketing, digital transformation, sustainability, and leadership.
The program featured interactive learning methods, including case studies, simulations, company and university visits, and industry panels. Following a 12-month instructional phase, participants completed a 6-month thesis project, which they successfully defended before a jury of Sorbonne academics in March 2025.
Participants came from a wide range of industries, including finance, energy, retail, pharmaceuticals, and technology. Most had 15+ years of executive experience, holding roles such as general manager, C-level executive, director, and consultant. The cohort also included second-generation family business leaders and seasoned advisors, offering a dynamic mix of corporate and entrepreneurial perspectives.
The multinational class featured executives not only from Turkey but also from countries like Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Romania, and Iraq, enhancing the program’s regional reach and cultural richness. This diversity fostered deep peer interaction and cross-industry knowledge exchange.
The May 2025 graduation ceremony also brought together graduates from Sorbonne’s Executive MBA programs across Paris, Beijing, and Rio, with nearly 200 global executives in attendance. For the Istanbul cohort, this marked not only the culmination of an academic journey but also entry into a global alumni network, providing lifelong connections, international exposure, and valuable business relationships.
Dr. Emirhan Altunkaya, Program Director of the Sorbonne Executive MBA Istanbul, shared his thoughts following the ceremony:
“This is more than just a graduation, it is the celebration of a transformative leadership journey. Our participants will bring global insight and strategic thinking back to their organizations and industries. We’re proud to walk alongside them as they shape the future of international business leadership.”
