Baktek Environmental Technologies, a Turkish pioneer in sustainable wastewater solutions, has secured a third investment round from Pragma Capital Partners' (PCP) Technology Opportunities Fund. The round also drew high-profile individual investors, including Murat Can Ertöz, former CEO of VANSAN and current PCP Advisory Board member, and Haluk Bayraktar, General Manager of Baykar, a leading name in Turkey’s defense and aerospace sector.
Baktek, best known for its patented BioGuy II device, which prevents environmental damage from wastewater discharge while enabling water reuse, has been awarded the European Commission’s “Seal of Excellence” three times. The device has garnered global attention for its ability to significantly reduce carbon emissions and energy consumption, especially in industrial and hospitality sectors.
CEO Alp Taşan stated that the new capital will support the development of big data-powered tools that offer traceable, actionable environmental insights:
“Following the success of BioGuy II, we are now turning to data-driven innovations. The investment will also accelerate our entry into new markets and scale the operational footprint of our high-impact solutions.”
PCP Managing Partner Özlü Yalaza added:
“Baktek’s technologies are generating serious interest not just in Turkey but internationally. We are pleased to deepen our collaboration with Alp Taşan’s team to accelerate R&D and drive global expansion.”
In 2023, Baktek’s BioGuy II technology reportedly helped reduce over 142 tonnes of carbon emissions annually in factories, marking a substantial environmental milestone. In the hospitality industry, the system has also reduced waste disposal costs and enabled greywater reuse for irrigation, with timely innovations amid mounting concerns about water scarcity.
The device is already in use across a range of sectors—from hotels and shopping malls to manufacturing plants and domestic systems. Through its partnership with Zoi Environmental Technologies, Baktek has expanded operations across Turkey, Slovenia, Egypt, several EU member states, and the Gulf region.
As water becomes an increasingly strategic resource, Baktek’s scalable, low-energy technologies are positioning the firm as a standout player in the global cleantech landscape.
