At its annual TechEd conference, SAP introduced groundbreaking AI innovations by placing its generative AI digital assistant, Joule, at the center of a new way of working.
As a leader in enterprise applications and business-focused AI solutions, SAP offers a comprehensive and transformative collection, from collaborative technologies to knowledge graph capabilities and generative AI developer tools within SAP Build. Today, 87% of global commerce operates on SAP systems. SAP also announced powerful new capabilities that complement and extend Joule, including collaborative AI tools equipped with special abilities to complete complex, interdisciplinary tasks.
At the event, SAP presented the SAP Knowledge Graph, a next-generation solution that will help developers unlock the full value of SAP data by linking it with rich business contexts, along with new tools enabling developers to drive business-focused AI innovation.
Leveraging the power of AI can unlock growth opportunities for companies
Speaking at the TechEd event, Muhammad Alam, Executive Board Member for Product Engineering at SAP, said, “The innovations SAP delivers help companies achieve real business outcomes. Today’s announcements will support our customers in leveraging the power of AI, data, and new development solutions to open paths for growth.
Joule’s capabilities as a digital assistant have been expanded to support 80% of the SAP product portfolio.
Introduced a year ago as a breakthrough in how we work, Joule has become the only digital assistant that truly speaks the language of business, now equipped with collaborative AI agents. Joule’s capabilities have been extended to support 80% of SAP’s most-used business tasks, further embedding SAP’s digital assistant into the company’s product portfolio.
Collaborative multi-agent systems deploy specialized AI technologies to complete specific tasks, aligning strategies to achieve common goals by collaborating within complex workflows. SAP is adding multiple collaborative AI agents to Joule to combine their unique expertise across business functions to execute complex workflows. These AI agents increase productivity by eliminating silos and enabling employees to focus on areas that require human creativity.
Two extraordinary scenarios demonstrated the transformative power of these agents at SAP’s TechEd event. In the first, autonomous AI agents were used to analyze and resolve dispute resolution scenarios, including inaccurate and missing invoices, unutilized credits, and rejected or duplicate payments. In the other, autonomous AI agents automated invoice payments, invoice processing, and ledger updates, quickly addressing inconsistencies or errors and streamlining core financial processes.
SAP’s AI innovations also leverage the company’s unique expertise in business data. From the first quarter of 2025, SAP’s Knowledge Graph solution, accessible through SAP Datasphere and Joule, will seamlessly map relationships and context within SAP’s extensive data environment, giving users a deeper understanding to make more accurate, data-driven decisions. Offering ready-to-use relationships among business items such as purchase orders, invoices, and customers, the solution will significantly reduce the complexity of manual data modeling.
SAP Knowledge Graph bases AI on SAP’s unique business semantics, which reduces the risk of incorrect or irrelevant results and facilitates intelligent application development and more effective generative AI use for organizations.
SAP has also launched a series of innovations to boost developer-driven AI innovation. New generative AI developer features like code explanation and document search within SAP Build will reduce development time for Java and JavaScript developers. SAP Build is also adding an Extensibility Wizard feature that allows developers to access SAP Build directly from SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, simplifying the process. ABAP developers and fusion teams will also have seamless access to ABAP Cloud development tools within SAP Build.
Through its training offerings, SAP has reduced the global digital skills gap via role-based certifications, free training materials, and hands-on opportunities for developers. SAP continues to expand its growing portfolio of AI-related learning opportunities, including courses on generative AI, AI ethics, and SAP’s advanced AI tools and platforms.
