The increasing use of artificial intelligence in the business world has also transformed the cyber threat environment. It was determined that 3 out of 4 companies consider artificial intelligence-based cyber threats, which increase the volume and effects of cyber attacks, as an important problem.

While artificial intelligence technology has become one of the most important productivity tools of corporate companies day by day, rapidly developing artificial intelligence has also changed the cyber security environment. The increase in artificial intelligence software used by organisations and the contributions of artificial intelligence to the attack processes of cyber criminals have turned artificial intelligence technology, which is an opportunity, into a risk. The report titled The State of Artificial Intelligence in Cyber Security, which reflects the results of the research conducted with the participation of 1,800 cyber security experts, revealed that three out of four companies see artificial intelligence-based cyber threats as a significant problem.

Sharing his evaluations on the subject, Burak Akçagün, DNSSense Sales, Channel and Operations Manager, said, "As the technology solutions used by businesses increase, vulnerability points are also increasing. On the other hand, cyber attackers benefit from the capacity of artificial intelligence when designing attacks. Artificial intelligence-supported attacks can be eliminated with cyber security solutions powered by artificial intelligence."

3 out of 5 companies are not prepared for artificial intelligence-supported cyber risks

Three out of five respondents said their organisations are not adequately prepared to face the next generation of AI-powered threats. On the other hand, nine out of 10 cybersecurity experts predicted that AI-powered threats will continue to be a major problem not only for the next one to two years, but for the entire foreseeable future.

Burak Akçagün said that the threats to artificial intelligence are long-term and the insufficient preparation to combat these threats increases the risks, "We observe that artificial intelligence increases the volumes of cyber attacks and the potential impact of an attack. Seeing warnings to the business world on this issue from states such as the USA and the UK, which have included cyber security in their digital agenda, also increases the seriousness of the work. It is necessary to accept that artificial intelligence is a new norm in the cyber security environment. Volumes are increasing, attack mechanisms are becoming more sophisticated, and geopolitical ruptures are pushing cyber warfare to the top of the headlines. To prepare for these risks, it is necessary to focus on cost-effective solutions for DNS, the first security point of a corporate network, which can cover all technology solutions used on a company scale."

Artificial intelligence threats also reflected on budgets

Stating that the expanding and ever-changing risk environment is reflected in the budgets that businesses allocate for cyber security, Burak Akçagün said, "Compared to 2023, companies allocate 60% more budget to cyber security in 2024. This will continue in the following years. It is critical for businesses working for the budgeting of the new fiscal year to strengthen their detection and response mechanisms to fend off possible attacks before they can take action. DNS security solutions manage to narrow the impact area of attacks from the first step by adding an extra layer of security between the user and the network. DNSSense, which develops the most recommended and most easily used artificial intelligence-based DNS security solutions in the field of DNS security, makes corporate network shields resistant to unknown threats with its DDR 2.0 method. DNSEye, DNSDome and DNSSense, with their products that can be used separately or integrated by Detection and Protection, strengthen the hands of businesses in security insights, comprehensive protection and cyber threat intelligence. At this point, our product, which is unique in the world, integrates with XDR and SIEM products, increasing the capabilities and maturity of these products and providing a unique field of action for SOC teams."

Protects the first layer of security

Burak Akçagün, DNSSense Sales, Channel and Operations Manager, pointed out that DNSSense, which joined Noventiq, a global IT company operating in 60 countries at the end of 2023, started its R&D studies on artificial intelligence long ago, and concluded his evaluations with the following statements: "DNSSense was founded in 2013, when ChatGPT and the productive artificial intelligence fury was not yet around, and we utilised artificial intelligence in our first product focusing on domain classification. With our team conducting doctoral-level research studies on artificial intelligence, we developed our threat intelligence solution that has the information of the entire internet with artificial intelligence-supported domain classification. Our Detection product, which can instantly detect anomalies in the network by positioning like an observer, and our Protection product, which provides protection against very difficult to detect attacks such as ultra-slow DNS tunnelling by covering all devices used throughout the institution, establish an important defence mechanism in the attack surface that is expanding day by day. In addition to protection and prevention, DNSSense solutions also facilitate DNS logging solutions, making it easier for security teams. DNSSense, which started to protect the corporate networks of world giants in areas such as retail, finance and insurance from the first layer, is ready to help businesses that want to guarantee business continuity by investing in state-of-the-art DNS security."
