The problems of gender inequality in the world of work continue. 11% of women think that they are less respected in the workplace compared to men. While those who want to create an equal and inclusive culture in the workplace are looking for an appropriate road map, TED University is preparing to provide gender equality training to the business world on 1-2 June.
TURKEY - TED University Gender Studies Centre announced that it will hold its event titled "Gender Equality Training in Working Life" on 1-2 June. The programme, coordinated by Gender Expert Tuğçe Çetinkaya, will include Prof. Dr. Şebnem Akipek Öcal, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bezen Coşkun, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zehra Yılmaz, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duygu Onay Çöker, Dr. Burcu Sarı Karademir, Meltem Ferendeci Özgödek and Dr. Ezgi Alp, it is planned to draw attention to different topics in gender equality. These include topics such as "Basic Concepts of Gender Equality", "Good Examples of Ensuring Gender Equality in Business Life", "Legal Framework and Examples in the Context of Gender Equality", "Gender Balance in Active Business Life", "Inclusive and Equitable Workplace", "Gender Equality in Media Texts and Advertisements".
Underlining that they have adopted a corporate culture based on gender equality, Prof. Dr. Zuhal Yeşilyurt Gündüz, Head of the Department of Political Science and International Relations and Director of the Gender Studies Centre at TEDU, said: "More than half of the academic, administrative staff and students at TEDU are women. Our university has a Gender Equality Plan. We are working to fulfil the goals set within this plan. The Gender Studies Centre plays an active role in the creation and follow-up of this plan. It is working with us in many projects such as the training programme we will hold in the coming days."
"With our Gender Studies Centre, we have been continuing our activities to raise awareness on gender issues and create a university environment based on gender equality since 2018. For example, our Gender Studies Centre organises conferences, workshops and podcasts on gender equality. It organises seminars and creates internship programmes every year. It prepares publications and creates a large archive resource. In the near future, our Centre will launch the Digital Feminist Foreign Policy School Project together with Heinrich Böll Stiftung Turkey."
