In this context, it not only tracks the momentum of Turkey's development but also shares the 4-year strategy set by the Ministry of Industry and Technology for the upcoming period.

Turkey ranks 39th in the global innovation index

The Global Innovation Index of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), examined by B2Press, reveals the most innovative economies of 2023 in a competitive environment filled with uncertainties. The index, which lists 132 countries based on four main metrics: science investments, technological progress, technology adoption, and socio-economic impact, maintains Switzerland's position at the top for the 13th year in a row with a score of 67.6. With its progress in 2023, Sweden, surpassing the United States compared to the previous year, is positioned second with a score of 64.2. Following them are the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Finland. Turkey, aiming to accelerate in science and technology in 2024, falls two places compared to 2022, landing at 39th on the list. In the North Africa and Western Asia, Turkey ranks third after Israel and the United Arab Emirates.

The innovation trend of 2024 is “productive artificial intelligence”

Innovation, which involves creating value by using new ideas when developing new products, services, processes, or organizations, enables countries to reach their economic and socio-cultural potential, while its dynamic nature also brings about some changes. Based on the report sharing the most influential trends of 2023 by the World Economic Forum, it is expected that throughout the year, artificial intelligence, sustainability, cloud computing, and sectoral technologies will continue to dominate. Countries planning to focus on innovative trends ripe with new opportunities in 2024 are preparing to unleash their potential, productivity, and creativity.

B2Press points out that countries aiming to boost economic growth by enhancing their technology and innovation capacities benefit from trends. It unveils a global map by scrutinizing the report of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). In this regard, it emphasizes the importance of harnessing the values created in the global green technology revolution to benefit all nations. It suggests that it is time for countries to utilize these values to grow their economies, become more resilient against potential crises, and reduce inequalities.

Countries most open to development: China, Brazil and India

According to information obtained from the Online PR Service, among high-income economies, the countries most open to innovation-driven development are seen to be the United States, Sweden, Singapore, Switzerland, and the Netherlands, followed by China, Brazil, India, and South Africa. The basis of this ranking lies in increased investment in infrastructure and technical skills enhancement, as well as creating a favorable business environment. The report suggests that developing countries like Turkey must also catch up with the waves of technological transformation early. To achieve this, closing the gap in next-generation technology is imperative. Moreover, harmonising environmental, science, technology, and industry policies is critical.

Turkey is preparing for the future with technology

Following the warnings of global organizations and ongoing trends, Turkey, too, is swiftly advancing with the strategic plans of the Ministry of Industry and Technology covering 2024-2028, thanks to its resilient, sustainable, and competitive production infrastructure, as well as its flexible and agile R&D innovation ecosystem. As it prepares to make technological leaps at the national level over the next 4 years, it focuses on development in information technology, software, cybersecurity, green and digital transformation. It creates a platform for enhancing young people's capabilities while promoting the entrepreneurial ecosystem's growth. Thus, aiming to strengthen both regionally and nationally, Turkey targets to be among the leading economies in the world.
