According to Findmykids' data, one-third of children in Turkey have a phone battery level that drops below 20 per cent when they are away from home. Findmykids shared tips for staying in touch at all times for parents who do not want to leave their communication with their children at the mercy of their phone battery.

TURKEY - Although tracking children's location instantly with a location tracking application such as Findmykids is an important step in terms of security, there is another equally important issue: the charging status of children's phones. When their phone runs out of power, kids can't call for help or contact their parents in an emergency. For this reason, it is essential to remember that it is vital for children's phones to have sufficient battery levels. Based on this fact, Findmykids, which evaluated the battery level data of 3.5 million users in 170 countries, revealed a remarkable fact about children's mobile phone use.

Accordingly, in Turkey, the battery level of one out of every three children's phones drop below 20 per cent when they are away from home. Additionally, 6 out of every 100 children do not charge their phones until their battery is completely dead when they are away from home. These two data, which have similar rates worldwide, show that the phones next to children are at risk of suddenly shutting down, and they may experience severe disruptions in communication with their parents.

Kids should keep track of their phone battery level

The battery level display feature of the Findmykids application helps parents to prevent this negativity. Thanks to this feature, the Findmykids application instantly monitors the battery level of the child's phone and reminds the parent that the phone needs to be charged when it falls below a certain level. This eliminates the need for parents to check the battery level throughout the day constantly.

This feature of Findmykids is also important in encouraging children to take responsibility in device use. In this way, children can learn the importance of charging their phones and always being ready to communicate with their parents and feel safer.

You should always stay in touch for your child's safety.

Findmykids Country Manager Neşen Yücel emphasized the importance of parents being in touch with their children for greater safety and touched upon the measures that can be taken. Neşen Yücel said that children should be taught to regularly check the battery level of their phones to avoid any disruption in communication, “The child should follow the charging status of his phone and charge it when necessary. He/she should take the charger with him/her whenever necessary. Getting your child into the habit of charging it every night ensures the phone is always ready. It should not be forgotten that charging the phone at night is important for daytime use.”

Neşen Yücel also stated that teaching the child how to act in various situations is necessary: “You can instantly track your child's location by using applications such as Findmykids. However, remember that these applications may become dysfunctional if the battery runs out. It is necessary to be prepared for every situation. The child should know how to act when his battery is low. For example, if your child's phone battery is about to run out and can't charge it soon, show him how to put his phone in low-power mode. "Remind him from time to time how to do this process so that he doesn't forget it.”

Social media and videos drain the battery faster

Reminding that children today both actively use social media and love watching videos, Neşen Yücel emphasized that this causes the battery level to decrease rapidly, “By using applications such as Findmykids, you can closely monitor your child's phone usage habits and ensure that the battery lasts longer.” You can make the necessary warnings. To ensure that your communication with your child continues uninterruptedly, the Findmykids application offers much more than tracking locations on the map. For example, thanks to the app's Loud Sound feature, you can make your child's phone ring loudly even if it is in silent mode and does not answer calls. “The child can also send a distress call (SOS signal) to the parent's phone with a single touch when the child feels unsafe or in an emergency.”
