According to the World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Report, the global gender equality score has increased by only 0.44% compared to last year. Iceland, Norway and Finland are among the countries closest to equality by reducing the gender equality gap, while Turkey is ranked 129th among 146 countries.

TURKEY - While the efforts to raise awareness about gender equality around the world continue rapidly, the 2023 edition of the World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Report has been published. In the research, in which the levels of gender equality of 146 countries were announced, countries were evaluated with the criteria of economy, education, health and political leadership. Accordingly, it was noted that the global gender equality score increased by only 0.44% compared to the previous year, reaching 68.4%. In addition, it was determined that 42 of the countries participating in the analysis increased their gender equality scores by at least 1%, while Iceland, Norway and Finland were among the countries that approached equality the most by reducing the gender equality gap. Sweden, Germany and Nicaragua followed the ranking, while Turkey was ranked 129th on the list.

According to the announced statistics, while Turkey remains in the lower ranks in terms of economic participation and education, it is predicted that it will take 167 years for the Middle East and Eurasian regions, which are experiencing a decline in gender equality, to reach equality based on their current progress rates. In-an Movement, which carries out studies on equality, diversity and inclusion in our country to accelerate this period, has published the new episode of the "We Are Opening the Voice" program series on the social media channel of the Harvard Business Review. This episode of the program, hosted by Twiser CGO (Chief Growth Officer) and the Founder of In-an Movement Bahar Taşkın Öztürk, was hosted by MAGMA & Boğaziçi Jazz Choir Family Founding Conductor and General Art Director Masis Aram Gözbek. In the program, while the individual and social benefits of being in a music choir were mentioned, the importance of polyphony in the business world was also highlighted.

“It is essential to balance by approaching people equally in large teams”

Stating that there are hundreds of people from various parts of the world and different age groups in their choirs, MAGMA & Boğaziçi Jazz Choir Family Founding Conductor and General Art Director Masis Aram Gözbek explained that in such environments where crowded teams take place, the balance between people should be taken as a basis. Pointing out that each individual has different values and thought patterns, Gözbek stated that only in this way can people meet each other on a common plane. He advised individuals to join polyphonic choirs at an early age to adapt to polyphony, adopt this understanding and reflect it in their social lives in the future.

“We have revealed the common ground between the choirs and the business world”

Bahar Taşkın Öztürk, Twiser CGO (Chief Growth Officer) and Founder of In-an Movement, who handles polyphony from the perspective of the business world, said about the new episode of their program, “When it comes to equality and diversity, hundreds of people come together and have the same voice. We can compare the choruses that he meets in the musical note with the business world. Because, just like in the executive cadres of companies, the presence of female conductors in choirs was a strange issue until recently. In the new part of our program, we have drawn a comprehensive framework on the importance of collective consciousness, starting from this point of view. In our upcoming chapters, we will host valuable people from different professions and examine the manifestation of gender equality in different fields, and thus, we will open the door to the emergence of new ideas that are unusual.”
