The success of Turkey's health sector and Turkish doctors opened the door to international success. The Turkish medical doctor and health economist entered the bestseller list of the US-based e-commerce platform Amazon with his three books.
TURKEY — Turkey, one of the prominent countries in its region with the successes of its health sector and Turkish doctors, added a new achievement in this field. Three books written by Dr Güvenç Koçkaya, the past president of the Board of Health Economics and Policies Association, who is also a medical doctor and health economist, were included in the top 100 best-selling books in the health books category on Amazon, one of the world's leading e-commerce platforms.
The first book written by Dr. Güvenç Koçkaya with Prof. Alber I. Wertheimer from Nova Southeastern University, and featured on Amazon's best-seller list, "Pharmaceutical Market Access in Emerging Markets", was published in 2016. In 2018, Koçkaya published his book titled "Pharmaceutical Market Access in Developed Markets". These two books, which have been among the best-sellers on Amazon's US platform since 2016, were listed among the top 20 books in the Best 100 Drug Books of All Time list by BookAuthority, which evaluates the most recommended books on business, technology, and science, in 2021.
Dr Güvenç Koçkaya, expressing their intention to assist students, academics, industry professionals, public workers, and decision-makers in understanding the environment in developed and emerging markets, said, “Our new book titled Pharmacoeconomics from a Clinical Perspective, which we published this week, also found its place on this list”.
Assoc. Dr noting that the new book titled Pharmacoeconomics from Clinical Perspective, which they prepared with Mete Şaylan and published with the Estonia-based ECONiX Research Publishing label, entered the list on Amazon from the 23rd place, Koçkaya said, We are proud to have added a new one to our two publications, which are among the bestsellers among the books focusing on health economics. The fact that these books do not lose their place in the bestseller lists reveals the academic need for market access in the pharmaceutical industry and health economics.
Assoc. Dr. Mete Şaylan said, “In this book, we aimed to show clinicians medicine and health from a different perspective. We aimed for them to see the reflection of pharmacoeconomics in the clinic.”
The latest book published promises to provide an overview of the use of health economics, and pharmacoeconomics in particular, in the clinical setting. He graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine, completed his master's degree in Pharmacoeconomics and Pharmacoepidemiology at Yeditepe University, completed his doctorate in Medical Pharmacology at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine, and worked at the Health Outcomes Research Center at Temple University, USA. He worked in public and private sector institutions and is now with ECONiX Research. Carrying out projects in the field of economy and market access, Dr Güvenç Koçkaya concluded his evaluations with the following statements:
