The Open Data and Technology Association is addressing the topic of disasters and earthquakes at its third annual Open Data Summit. The conference, which will take place online on May 25th, brings together experts in disaster management and open data.
TURKEY - With the theme "No Data, No Crisis!" the event will explore how the use of open data is crucial in planning before emergencies such as floods, fires, and particularly earthquakes, as well as in post-event organization and solidarity during crises. The opening panel, moderated by Dr. Fatih Sinan Esen, will feature discussions on the consequences of data scarcity in crises by Professor Dr. Cenk Yaltırak and Bilal Eren, the President of AVTED (Open Data and Technology Association). Subsequent sessions will involve discussions led by representatives from civil society and government on topics such as data-driven public administration and urban planning, search and rescue, individual survival strategies, uninterrupted communication and access to accurate information, as well as assistance and solidarity organizations and the protection of critical data.
The Open Data Summit, which will bring together experts, including academics, legal professionals, and public and private sector employees in the field of open data in Turkey, will take place on Thursday, May 25th, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
