TURKEY - The awards of the "Dream Melodies Painting Contest", which was held for the second time this year by the EMART Young Talents Foundation, found their owners at the ceremony. Emre Tura, a student of Marmara University Painting Teaching Department, won the First Prize, while the Second Prize was given to Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Painting Department Student Ali Duman, and the Third Prize was given to Yeditepe University Plastic Arts and Painting Department Student Sena Gündüz.

The Special Jury Award of the competition was presented to Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University Fine Arts Faculty Painting Department Student Oğuzhan Ulutaş.

At the award night at Kadıköy Municipality Yeldeğirmeni Sanat, after the concert featuring pieces from Yevgeni Onegin's opera and the speeches, the opening of the exhibition, which included 4 works deemed worthy of the award and 22 works worth exhibiting, was held with the participation of many art lovers.

Support for Fine Arts Students

Making evaluations about the competition, EMART Young Talents Foundation Board of Trustees Member Burcu Altay Doğan said, “It is very valuable for the future to support young people in every aspect. Our foundation tries to support talented young people in their artistic production. The interest they show in the competition and the beauty of the works reinforce our hopes. In addition, the support of institutions and organizations to our foundation and to the arts encourages us. Yeditepe University was with us as a stakeholder. Kadıköy Municipality gave Yeldeğirmeni Art space support. The official sponsor of our competition, AKPA Aluminum, provided moral and economic support to art students. Our other sponsors are DM Travel, ABBA Architecture, Design by SLIN, Tütüncübaşı Attorneyship and Humicontrol. We would like to thank all institutions and organizations individually.” said

Contributing as a stakeholder in the organization and dissemination of the competition, Yeditepe University Faculty of Fine Arts Dean Prof. Gülveli Kaya said, “Because this competition is open to art students studying at faculties of fine arts, I think that it will have a positive contribution to the education process of art students. I believe that, especially after the earthquake disaster we experienced on February 6, it offers an opportunity for all fine arts faculties students to get away from the negativity of this disaster, embrace life, and heal by producing.”

Emre Tura, a student of Marmara University Painting Teaching Department, who came first in the competition, said that he thanked everyone who contributed. Tura said, “The art of opera is a rich source of inspiration for artists as it includes all fields of fine arts. The realization of such a competition is very developer in terms of creating a bridge between the arts. For me, Yevgeni Onegin's opera contains melancholy and inner drama. In my work, I aimed to convey these feelings. It is like a stage where we make sense of our existence, with good and bad returns in life.”
