While the dynamics of the business world are changing every day, young people who will start their careers are taking action to plan their careers. Finally, TED University brought together more than 100 professionals from the business world with its students at the 7th WanTED Career Days. During the 3-day event, nearly 2000 business/student contacts were held.
TURKEY — According to the research conducted by the Confederation of Youth Clubs of Turkey (GENÇ KONFED) with 1700 young people in the country, 64% of the participants stated that they found a job easily after graduation, while almost a third (31%) stated that they had more than 10 interviews. While 48% of the youth stated that they do their job in the field they studied, 22% stated that they indirectly do the work related to these industries.
TED University (TEDU) has been organizing various career events for the last 7 years in order for its students to make their first contact with the sector while they are still at the university. While TEDU career events offer candidates multiple job and internship options, they also enable experienced professionals to benefit from their experiences. At the 7th WanTED Career Days, nearly 1000 students had the opportunity to meet and interview important players from various sectors at different roundtable meetings for their career journey.
WanTED Career Days have turned into a networking event between students and professionals, breaking new ground in university career events thanks to the Round Table Experience Sharing events, which laid the foundations of the Master - Apprentice relationship, which is the world's oldest and most effective learning method.
At the Round Table Experience Sharing meetings, where different career journeys take place on different days, academic career and entrepreneurship; a teaching career with an NGO career; Experiences were shared on different days and at different tables for departments such as Production and R&D and for departments such as Marketing and Human Resources.
More than 100 national and international companies attended the WanTED Career Days held at the TEDU Campus. During the 3-day event, a total of 6 sessions and more than 600 roundtable meetings took place. Nearly 2000 TEDU students had the chance to have one-on-one contact with the sector representative. In the WanTED Career Days, a face-to-face or online interview simulation was conducted with the participation of over 1000 students. In this way, the students had the opportunity to learn about different sectors while at the same time understanding the expectations and demands of companies and creating a roadmap on which subjects they could improve themselves without the need for long interview processes. During the event, 9 seminars were also held.
Noting that they care about TEDU students' contact with the business world while they are still studying, TED University Rector Prof. Dr İhsan Sabuncuoğlu made the following statement on the subject: “We attach great importance to the fact that our students experience their first contact with the business world, not after they graduate, but while they are still studying. Our students, who had the opportunity to get to know the field or sector they were curious about at WanTED Career Days, met with professionals at the desks of companies and institutions where they were matched and participated in interview simulations. As TEDU, we will continue to support our students in their career planning processes with various activities and studies.”
