TURKEY - Although more than 2 months have passed since the earthquakes that took place on February 6, activities to heal the wounds in the region did not cease. In the rebuilding process, in which businesses from different countries and different sectors of the world are also mobilized, another piece of news came from the global cryptocurrency exchange Gate.io. Gate Charity, a global non-profit organization operating within the Gate Group, donated 1 million TL to the Cinematic Academy, which aims to improve the lives of children in the earthquake zone through education and psychological support through Gate.io Turkey.
Rae Pui, Deputy General Manager of Gate Group, shared her evaluations on the subject, "Gate Charity focuses on creating permanent solutions to urgent social problems around the world by using blockchain technology and digital assets. After our visit to Turkey, we support Cinemasal Academy, which works for the recovery of children in the disaster area. We decided to become one,” he said.
Founded in 2012 by Enes Kaya, who experienced the 1999 Düzce earthquake as a child and defined his introduction to cinema as a turning point, the social enterprise Cinemasal, with 11 years of field experience, carries out activities that introduce children to the cinema in Turkey, Peru, South Africa and the Philippines. Cinemasal, which has introduced more than 4 million children to the cinema, signed more than 9 thousand workshops and reached more than 1,145 villages, announced that they would be in the earthquake zone for 2023, a few days after the earthquakes. The social enterprise organizes after-school education and outdoor activities for children aged 5-17 living in disaster areas and container cities. The 28-week program includes outdoor film screenings, theatre and concerts for children, math, science, visual arts and sports.
Stating that they have designed projects for 12 different districts in Hatay, Kahramanmaraş and Adiyaman, Cinematic Founder Enes Kaya said, “Cinema adds richness, different perspectives and new horizons to the lives of children who need healing today. We will be in the area throughout the year to enable children who have experienced intense trauma to dream again. Gate Charity's support is crucial to providing adequate funding for this effort, to deliver outputs that truly have a lasting impact and help children dream again."
Emphasizing that Gate Charity aims to use emerging blockchain technologies and crypto assets to find solutions to global problems, Rae Pui concluded his evaluations with the following statements: “The in-kind and cash donations we made as Gate.io Turkey after the earthquake continue with this support of Gate Charity. We have also opened a donation channel on Gate Charity to benefit more people and encourage more contributions to regions where solidarity is needed. In addition, we aimed to make the support continues with the NFT collection that we put up for sale on the Gate NFT marketplace. We believe that only through unity we can create a better world. This donation, which also highlights Gate Charity's commitment to addressing global social issues, will enable Cinemasal to reach more children by supporting its educational and psychological support programs.
