Turkish faculty members achieve success on the global scale. Finally, Prof. Selin Aradağ Çelebioğlu from TED University was selected as 'Associate Fellow' by AIAA for her contributions to aviation. She was one of the 5 non-US people among the 100 selected by the institute.

TURKEY - Women academics in our country continue to achieve worldwide success. Finally, TED University (TEDU) Graduate Programs Institute Director and Mechanical Engineering Department Head Prof. Selin Aradağ Çelebioğlu was selected as 'Associate Fellow' by the American Aerospace Institute (AIAA) for her contributions to the development of aviation with her studies on flow control, fluid dynamics and high-speed flows. During his doctoral studies in the USA, Prof. Çelebioğlu who realized the hypersonic silent air tunnel designs within the scope of the project carried out with the support of the aviation company Boeing and the American Air Force Scientific Research Office (AFOSR), became one of the 5 non-US people  among the 100 people selected as an 'Associate Fellow' by the AIAA. The awards will be presented to the academicians and aviation industry professionals who have been selected as Associate Fellows at the AIAA SciTech Forum to be held in Maryland on January 24.

Laura McGill, President of AIAA, the world's largest technical organization in aviation with 95 corporate and 30 thousand individual members from 91 countries, said in a press statement on the subject, "I congratulate everyone who has been selected as an 'AIAA Associate Fellow' for the year 2023. All selected scientists made very meaningful contributions in the field of aviation that will continue to be influential in the future. Using their competencies and creativity, they came up with solutions to complex problems that arose in the aviation and space community. While they set an example for the development of aviation with their experience, dedication and services, they also shape the future of the industry.”

Selected as 2023 AIAA Associate Fellow from Turkiye, TED University Graduate Programs Institute Director and Mechanical Engineering Department Head Prof. Selin Aradağ Çelebioğlu commented: “I am proud to be one of the 100 people selected as Associate Fellow by AIAA this year, and the only person from Turkiye, representing our country globally with the projects I have realized in the field of aviation. As both a researcher and an educator, I still continue my studies and projects on aviation and defense. I will continue to educate new generations on machinery and aviation by making students love these subjects.”
 
Having completed his undergraduate and graduate education in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Middle East Technical University, Prof. Selin Aradağ Çelebioğlu holds a PhD in Mechanical and Aviation Engineering from Rutgers University in the USA. She worked as a research engineer at the American Air Force Academy. Since 2008, when she returned to Turkiye, she worked as a lecturer at TOBB ETU and TED University, respectively, as well as carried out projects supported by institutions such as TUBITAK, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Development, Ministry of Industry, TUSAŞ, and took part in EU projects. Also the founder of TOBB ETU Hydro Water Turbine Design and Test Center in the field of Clean Energy, Prof. Selin Aradağ Çelebioğlu also acted as an executive in the MİLHES project, in which a hydroelectric power plant was designed and commissioned for the first time with domestic facilities. In addition to his duties as the Director of the Graduate Programs Institute and the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department at TED University, she continues her research on Energy and Aviation with her team. He is the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Heat Science and Technology, and a member of the Tübitak USETEG advisory board, the European Union COST action executive board, and the Board of the Heat Science and Technology Association.
