ISTANBUL (TR) - World Environment Day, celebrated on June 5 every year, brings sustainability and environmentally friendly products to the agenda. According to data published by Renolon, 75% of sustainability experts think that companies' environmental policies have an important place in their customer relations. On the other hand, consumers show a more determined attitude than experts with a rate of 85% and prefer to buy more sustainable products compared to five years ago. This situation is reflected in the companies' sales revenues as a 20% increase.

Saying that sustainability is among the basic building blocks of business processes, Seramiksan Director M. Süreyya Çağlar evaluated the issue with the following words: “Sustainability means the controlled use of our natural resources and meeting today's needs without jeopardizing tomorrow's resources. As Seramiksan, we have integrated sustainability into our corporate culture in line with the life cycle of ceramics, from raw material production to after-sales relations, to make our world a more livable place. With the awareness of the impact of consumer behavior on the market dynamics, we are increasing our investments in this area while offering sustainable products to our customers.”

Ceramic waste turns into raw material

Noting that they re-evaluated ceramic waste with the recycling facilities they established in 2019 within the scope of sustainability, M. Süreyya Çağlar said, “We process our ceramic wastes in our recycling facility and re-include them in the production process. Thus, we reduce our carbon emissions with less raw material consumption and protect the environment. In addition, we aim to leave a cleaner and a more livable world to future generations with the policy of 'zero waste water' by recycling the water used in our factories in our treatment facilities. Of course, our sustainability efforts are not limited to production processes only. We both offer nature-friendly bathrooms and contribute to the family budget with our water-saving and hygiene technology products for bathrooms.”

A quarter of the water in homes is used in bathrooms

Stating that 16% of the fresh water in Turkey is used in homes and that the water used in bathrooms constitutes 70% of domestic water consumption, Seramiksan Director M. Süreyya Çağlar said, “It is possible to save tons of water by making the WC pans, which work with water and lead the way in water consumption in bathrooms, environmentally friendly. For example, when we consider that the storage capacity of classical reservoirs is 8 liters, when a family of 4 uses a WC pan operating with 2.5 / 4.5 liters of water, approximately 65% less water can be spent, and 37.9 tons of water can be saved per year.”

"Green House" trend rises from bathrooms

Emphasizing that they attach importance to savings and hygiene technology in the most demanded ceramic sanitary ware products, M. Süreyya Çağlar said, “We coat all the ceramic products we use in bathrooms with ions and we ensure that microbes are cleaned without the use of chemicals. In this way, we create a healthy living space while saving water. We achieve design integrity between surfaces and products with our tiles of different styles and sizes, which consist of the colors of nature. We continue to expand our portfolio to both design the areas where our consumers spend the most time with sustainable products and achieve aesthetic integrity.”
