ISTANBUL (TR) - While the video game industry reaches more users every year, the hyper-casual genre has come to the fore in mobile games. According to App Annie's State of Mobile Gaming 2022 report, hypercasual games that work with lean game dynamics and are still played for long hours by many users were downloaded 13 billion times last year. While the Hypercasual genre continues to be the locomotive of the mobile game industry, Hyperlab, the gaming startup that aims to increase Turkey's competitiveness in this field in the international arena, has completed its seed investment round. Reaching a valuation of 7.5 million, the Istanbul-based company received investment from Avni Yerli, the founder of Crytek, which is among the largest video game developers in the world, and Ali Can Temel, the founder of ACT Capital.
Hyperlab CEO Abdurrahman Kurt, who shared his views on the investment, said, “The seed investment tour is strategic importance for us. We believe that the experiences of Avni Yerli, the name behind an industry giant like Crytek, will contribute significantly to the future journey of Hyperlab.”
Hyperlab, founded in 2019 by Abdurrahman Kurt, Berat Can, Halit Altuntaş, and Utku Bayat, managed to reach millions of mobile players by being among the top 5 games in the US application stores in the past months with a game it developed. Sharing his views on Hyperlab, Avni Yerli said, "I am happy to have embarked on a new path with this team, whose story, goals, and potential I believe in. I do not doubt that the team will achieve games that will achieve significant success in hypercasual and hybrid casual genres and will make their current success sustainable.”
Hyperlab CEO Abdurrahman Kurt, who stated that they would use the capital they obtained from the seed investment to bring new talents to the Hyperlab roof and grow the team, concluded his evaluations with the following words: “We have created a corporate culture based on strong ties established by people doing what they love, without tiring competition. We believe that our understanding of work, where every idea is valued, and everyone helps each other, is effective in our success. We are waiting for candidates who want to be included in a stress-free working environment, move the company culture forward and write new success stories in the mobile game industry to apply to the new positions we will open.”
