While purchasing land in virtual universe metaverses is becoming more common day by day, it is predicted that metaverse land sales, which reached 501 million dollars in volume in 2021 on four major platforms, will reach 1 billion dollars this year, according to MetaMetric data. A dessert restaurant from Turkey joined this trend, which is led mostly by fashion brands and restaurant chains in the business world. The dessert restaurant, which transformed desserts such as künefe, dolama and baklava into NFT inspired by retro games, opened its new branch in the metaverse before the real world.

ISTANBUL (TR) - Many global brands that closely follow technology trends have started to take their place on metaverse platforms with the expectation of increasing their sales and revenues in the real world. A dessert restaurant from Turkey also joined this trend, led mostly by fashion brands, restaurant chains and ready-to-eat food companies. The dessert restaurant, which had a great impact by transforming desserts such as künefe, dolama and baklava into NFT, first opened its new physical branch in Karaköy on the metaverse. Emphasizing that they broke new ground in Turkey, Beyzade Künefe Founding Partner Mahmut Saman said, “Last month, we produced NFT versions of our traditional desserts such as künefe, baklava and dolama, inspired by retro games that left their mark on a period, and put them up for sale on OpenSea, the largest NFT market. This work has attracted a lot of attention from our customers. As a dessert restaurant that closely follows digital trends, we offer our customers the opportunity to experience our new branch first in the metaverse.”

Reminding that customers can reach the sweet shop in the metaverse via the OVR platform, Mahmut Saman said, “We are getting ready to open the new branch of Beyzade Künefe in Karaköy. In this process, we bought the land of our new branch in the metaverse on the augmented reality platform OVR and built our dessert restaurant in the same location in the virtual version of Karaköy. Our customers, who visit the metaverse branch of Beyzade Künefe, will be able to visit a virtual collection of künefe on the platform, and even shop for künefe and other sweets from this virtual branch. Beyza Yüncüoğlu, one of the creative team of Volantis Digital Agency, who contributed to the study, also commented, “I think we have accomplished a good job by combining three-dimensional modeling techniques with the OVR platform. While sharing our NFT künefe project with our customers, we also conveyed that our metaverse work continues. The opening of the Metaverse branch just before the new Beyzade Künefe branch in Karaköy was meaningful.”

“Brands that interact with the consumer should focus on the customer experience”

Emphasizing that concepts such as NFT and metaverse, which started to be talked about with blockchain technologies, carry great clues about the future for brands of all sizes and from all sectors, Mahmut Saman concluded his evaluations with the following statements: “Especially those who interact directly with the consumer, engage in retail trade or operate in the service sector. Customer experience should be at the center of all brands' business. While doing this, it is necessary to consider all channels and platforms where the customer can be contacted. As Beyzade Künefe, we produced künefe, baklava, dolama and pistachio NFTs based on retro games that left their mark on a period such as Alien Invasion, Space Invaders, and Pac-Man. Now, by breaking new ground, we appear before our customers in the metaverse. We offer you the opportunity to experience our new branch, which will be opened in Karaköy, in the virtual universe. By following digital trends closely, we will implement new projects that will attract the attention of not only enthusiasts but also everyone.”
