ISTANBUL (TR) - The move of work and school to home in the pandemic created the need for high internet speed. According to Speedtest's report, Turkey ranked 103rd among 175 countries with 30.51 Mbps fixed broadband internet speed in 2021. The fact that broadband internet speed was well behind the global average of 96.98 Mbps caused serious connection problems at a time when work and school were moving home. Internet service providers also put projects on the table to increase speed. Telkotürk, which provides fiber and high-speed internet services to 81 provinces of Turkey using a new generation technological infrastructure, announced that it has signed a joint brand project by joining forces with Yön İletişim.

It will provide gigabit-level internet speed

Telkotürk General Manager Emre Eskici stated that they aim to bring every point of Turkey together with a high level of internet speed within the scope of the joint brand project, "While the fixed broadband prevalence rate by population in Turkey is 21.2%, the OECD average is at the level of 33.2%. About 33% of fixed broadband subscribers in Turkey use 10-16 Mbps internet packages. In the broadband market, which has approximately 11.5 million xDSL and 4.6 million fiber subscribers, we aim to raise the standards by reaching gigabit internet speed.”

It will provide high speed internet to 70 cities with an investment of 30 million TL.

Noting that they created the joint brand project they developed with a social responsibility understanding, Emre Eskici gave the following information on the details of the cooperation: "We are breaking new ground in Turkey with the joint brand project based on infrastructure and superstructure cooperation, which we developed with direction communication. As a company established with Turkish capital, we are determined to take Turkey's internet to a higher level. The joint brand project that we developed with the motto of "Outstanding Communication" will guide this goal. Our project receives all of its capital from Telkotürk. In the first phase, we will provide high-speed internet service to a total of 70 cities with our services such as face-to-face communication, installation at home, on-site support and 24/7 live support line within the scope of the first phase service quality investment of 30 million TL. As a company that offers new generation technology infrastructure components and software-based advanced R&D technologies, we will also expand our customer-oriented products and services.”

Shaping the future of Turkey's internet

Direction Communications Chairman of the Board Niyazı Başpınar made the following assessment regarding the project: “As a company that provides services such as tele-sales, call center, after-sales products and support, technical consultancy, CRM, reporting and analysis to companies all over Turkey, we are in cooperation with TelkoTürk. We will shape the future of Turkey's internet. We will expand TelkoTürk's customer portfolio with the strength we derive from our 100% Turkish capital and deep-rooted experience. We believe that our project will reach its goal in a short time with the deep perspective we have in customer relations.”
