The rapid rise in e-commerce has made e-document applications widespread. The e-document requirement, which was introduced in 2021 for businesses with a turnover of 1 million TL or more, was expanded to include businesses with a turnover of 500 thousand TL or more this year. The e-document requirement, which brings operational convenience and cost advantage to businesses, also prevents consumer grievances.

ISTANBUL (TR) - E-commerce, which ran to 400 billion TL with the activity created by the pandemic, also digitized the invoices. E-document applications such as e-invoice, e-archive, e-book, e-dispatch started to replace printed documents in e-commerce. With the draft communiqué published by the Revenue Administration (GİB) in November last year, e-commerce companies with a turnover of 500 thousand TL or more as of 2022 were obliged to switch to the e-invoice application. Stating that e-solutions are an important part of the digital transformation of businesses, BirFatura CEO İbrahim Bayır said, “E-document applications bring operational convenience and cost savings to businesses. The storage costs and security risk caused by the obligation to keep the printed invoices for 10 years are thus eliminated. Invoices can be stored digitally for 10 years, and accounting transactions can be carried out much faster and easier. In case of any cancellation, transactions can be completed in seconds without getting lost among hundreds of invoices.”
Stating that e-document applications also prevent consumer grievances, İbrahim Bayır said, “Since unbilled shopping in e-commerce is not recorded in any way, taxation cannot be made for these purchases. Consumers, who are faced with a situation such as defective goods or defective services, cannot claim their rights. Or, they may fall into an unfair position when they are right in the face of problems that may occur in the future regarding the product or service they have purchased. Invoiced purchases also negatively affect the warranty process of the products."
Stating that the marketplaces, which bring together thousands of big and small sellers, impose very heavy sanctions on businesses that do not issue invoices, İbrahim Bayır said, “Despite this, the number of businesses that do not invoice their transactions is quite high. In such cases, consumers can get their invoices by contacting the relevant marketplace. Consumers whose invoice demand is unanswered can make a complaint to the tax office by calling the Tax Communication Center at 189 or via the "Notification Regarding Tax Loss and Evasion" heading in their e-government account.”
BirFatura CEO İbrahim Bayır, who mentioned that the applications that bring together the orders that businesses receive from their own e-commerce sites and marketplaces, make the invoicing process fast and automatic, said, “Companies that develop these applications must be private integrators licensed by the Revenue Administration. Thus, both the data of the enterprises and the personal information on the invoices can be protected within the scope of KVKK (GDPR). Companies that are not licensed private integrators but outsource this service share all data with third parties. In the face of these conditions, obtaining the service from the source gives assurance to the enterprises, while at the same time gaining speed. Thanks to the system we developed as a licensed private integrator as BirFatura, we bring together all e-invoice transactions of companies in a single pool. We guarantee e-invoice transactions by protecting the data of businesses within the scope of KVKK. We offer operational convenience and cost savings to businesses with our e-solutions.”
