İSTANBUL (TR) - Iranian Painter Sahar Khalkhalian, who had to face the devastating effects of war as a child and is known for showing the world the wounds that opened up in her soul, announced that she is preparing a new exhibition. Lastly, the artist, who participated in the events with Agora Gallery in New York last year, is preparing to appear before art lovers with a selection that will surprise those who know her. Stating that she will open her exhibition in Turkey in the coming months, Khalkhalian said, “You will see both expected and unexpected works from me. I believe that this exhibition will have a great meaning for the people of the whole world. Especially for the peace that I advocate for. I am very excited to make a small contribution to world peace. That's why I accelerated my work,".

Reflecting the traces of the Iran-Iraq war she was born into with strong and traumatic themes such as separation, isolation, loss of humanity and identity, and struggling to take concrete steps for world peace, Khalkhalian also touched upon Africa, which she frequently visits. Drawing attention to the hunger and misery in Africa, the painter said, “As artists, we must take responsibility. We cannot ignore the human tragedies experienced in many parts of the world, especially in the African continent, on international platforms. I would be very honored if my painting exhibition, on which I have been working intensively, contributes even a little to the elimination of the negative conditions in the world.”

She opened her first exhibition in 1988 

The Tehran-born artist opened her first exhibition at Tehran-Iran Seyhoun Art Gallery in 1998, and took part in two exhibitions both in Tehran and Germany in 2001. Sahar Khalkhalian, who opened an exhibition at the Aun Gallery in Tehran in 2010 and 2014, appeared before art lovers with her exhibition Turbulent in 2015. In 2016, she exhibited with Shirin Gallery both in Abu-Dhabi and Contex Art Miami; In 2019 and 2020, she participated in organizations with Agora Gallery in New York.
