İSTANBUL (TR) - Cevat Yörür appeared before readers for the first time in March with his story book “Dream Country”, which is the signature of Eyobi publications. Shedding light on the lives of children with dyslexia with a father-son story, the author writes through the eyes of the child how the difficulties they face at school, at home, among their friends or in the neighborhood make them lonely and arrogant after a while. Unlike books full of technical details and terms written on dyslexia, Yorur, who reveals not the symptoms of children who have received this diagnosis, but their wounds, points to pressures and consequences that sometimes lead to bullying.

A pen inspired by his son

In the introduction to his book, “I set out knowing the only purpose of what you will soon read. If someone who is prone to bullying reads my story, maybe he will give up this tendency,” Cevat Yörür, who meets his readers with sentences, says that it is his own son who gives strength to his pen: “I first heard about dyslexia in the hospital where we went because of the problems my son experienced at school. And then I realized that this word had brought to light many memories that I had thrown into my subconscious. Get to know more closely
I looked for him in educational institutions, social media channels and books, just like I was looking for someone from my past. According to the parties, the symptoms and consequences of symptoms reflected in life were dyslexia. But there was something missing when I found out, something missing that I couldn't name, even though I tried so hard. I thought maybe it was wrong to fit in a few words, and that's when I realized that my pen would find what I was looking for. That's how I hit the road.”

“I wanted to tell you how they can hold on to life when they meet someone who understands them”

"If a child is constantly mixing the letter b and the letter d, he has difficulty reading and writing, if he is reading and writing, if he is reading and writing, if he is reading and writing, if he is wearing attachments or throwing attachments to words, he is having trouble tying his shoes, buttoning his button, if he is mixing the right and left, if he is; this child has dyslexia and cannot be trained like normal children. From the outside, because they have no physical and mental problems, they can experience pressures that lead to bullying by peers, parents and teachers when they are forced to do some actions that society finds very simple. But these children are different and need to be understood. There is no shortage of intelligence, many of them are even gifted, and unfortunately their potential cannot be revealed. So I wanted people to see what difficulties a child with dyslexia is having. I wanted to tell you how they can hold on to life when they meet someone who understands them. As with all the stories, I hope that people here will understand the subject better by empathizing.”
