İSTANBUL (TR) - Cyber threats are growing every day in a world that is rapidly digitalizing due to the pandemic. Cyber attackers cause great material and moral damage by exposing not only large institutions, but also anyone who does not take cyber security measures. While raising awareness of cybersecurity is vital, work in this area has been accelerated around the world. Berqnet, a manufacturer of domestic cyber security products in Turkey, has made an important breakthrough with its social responsibility project called “Cyber Security for all”. The company, which determined that 80% of internet users are unconscious against cyber attacks at the “Turkey Cyber Security Awareness contest”held last year, launched a free training program based on this. The cyber security training program, which reaches more than 2 thousand participants in the first 3 days, aims to reach 100 thousand people in the medium term and increase our country's cyber literacy and digital awareness. The trainings can be applied to everyone via the Cyber Security Project's website.

More than 500 people who achieved 70% success rate in the exam received certificates

Berqnet General Manager Hakan Hintoglu, who said that they set out to equip everyone with basic information with a free education project, said: “in our research last year, we found that 80% of users are unconscious from fishing attacks, and 65% do not have enough information to create a strong password. In line with these results, when we thought about what our contribution to society might be, we decided to Share our expertise with a wider audience. The ‘Cyber Security for everyone’ project, which caters to a wide range from housewives to university students, bosses to IT professionals, consists of video tutorials that everyone can benefit from from 7 to 70. Everyone, regardless of their age, job or level of knowledge, can make significant gains by participating in this training. At the end of the training, consisting of 6 chapters and 16 topics, there is also an exam where information can be registered. Anyone who has achieved a 70% success rate on the exam can receive a cybersecurity training certificate and add it to their resume. The number of those eligible for certification has already exceeded 500. Although it was only a few days before we published the project, it showed us that we signed the right project to see intense interest and participation,” he said.

“Cyber vulnerabilities 99% of that is caused by human error”

In the field of education because of the density of many technical information of cyber security, doesn't apply to society as a whole, therefore every day low awareness has increased attacks on people and institutions Hakan hintoglu stating that, “the majority of internet users in the face of dangers that cyber does not have sufficient knowledge and ‘me nothing’ approach we see being overly confident. However, 99% of cyber vulnerabilities are caused by human errors. The way to break that confidence is through education. Because to be informed about phishing attacks, such as banking, where transactions are made secure is critical to check whether the URL in the address, characters, numbers and letters of rich, create strong passwords, firewall, cyber security is of great importance to develop simple but conscious behaviors such as the use of the products. As Berqnet, we have been working with our product family since 2015 to meet the cyber security, legal compliance and internet management needs of both individuals and businesses. We aim to minimize grievances by creating a more conscious society with our social responsibility projects.”
