ISTANBUL (TR) - Smoking stands out among the bad habitats that threaten human health all over the world. According to World Health Organization data, there are 1 billion 100 million cigarette users in the world, while more than 8 million people die from smoking every year. Looking at the countries that smoke the most by population, Kiribati ranks first with 52.4%, while Turkey ranks 40th as the most smokers in the world with 25.95%.

The World Health Organization initiated a project to support 100 million smokers in the world to quit smoking during 2021 against the threat of smoking, which causes many diseases from lung cancer to throat cancer, from heart diseases to paralysis and increases the risk of people getting Covid-19 and losing their lives. Stating that it supports smokers with live online seminars and video tutorials, Allen Carr method is considered the most experienced and successful smoking cessation method in the world, Allen Carr Turkey founder and Allen Carr Senior Therapist Emre Üstünuçar, gave details about the project. Üstünuçar said, “As Allen Carr, we have saved more than 50 million smokers from smoking in more than 50 countries since 1983. Tens of thousands of people in Turkey since 2004. Stating that as Allen Carr, they will support not only Turkey but also dozens of countries around the world with the method of smoking cessation that they use, Emre Üstünuçar said, “Dozens of countries, including Turkey, China, Russia, Britain, Spain, Brazil and Mexico, will receive support from Allen Carr of the World Health Organization. Along with us, the World Health Organization will also support world leaders in the sectors such as Amazon, Google, Johnson&Johnson in this project. At this point, our hope is that our Ministry of health, like the World Health Organization, will put the Allen Carr method on the agenda to offer the Turkish people to support millions of smokers in Turkey.”
