ISTANBUL (TR) - Mars Logistics and Logistics Association (LODER) 16th Intercollegiate Logistics Case Competition award ceremony was held in Istanbul with the participation of sector representatives, academicians and students. A total of 18 students from 6 teams participated in the final stage of the competition. Following the presentations made in three categories throughout the day, the winners were students of Piri Reis University, Ondokuz Mayıs University and Celal Bayar University. Awards and plaques for the winning teams, Mars Logistics managers, LODER President Prof. Dr. Mehmet Tanyaş and academics from the competition jury.
LODER President Prof. Dr. Mehmet Tanyaş underlined that they aim to bring talented students to the sector and emphasized the importance of logistics education in universities. Stating that they are very happy to organize the 16th edition of the competition, which is consistently carried out in the field of logistics, Mars Air and Sea Cargo Deputy General Manager Aydın Çevik said, "I advise young people aiming a career in logistics to analyze the importance of these three concepts very well; knowledge, foreign language and courage. I recommend them to enter the business life when they are confident, with the courage of having at least one foreign language, equipped with the knowledge, instead of taking steps to gain experience without being completely ready”.
Stating that they have acted with the awareness of creating a bright country with their education, culture and social responsibility activities since its establishment, Aydın Çevik said, "As Mars Logistics, we continue to raise awareness in the sector with the “Logistics Case Contest.” We are building a communication bridge between the business world and students in order to bring young talents to the sector and contribute to the development of the sector. In category A (undergraduate and 4-year high school category, which is the word logistics in the program name) winners were Piri Reis University International Logistics and Transportation Department students Deniz Yendün, Elijah Baş and Melisa Aydemir, while the runners-up in this category were Dokuz Eylül University Logistics Management students Özcan Erciez, September Yeşim Temizkul and Umutcan Albaş.
In category B (undergraduate and 4-year high school category without the word logistics), winners were the students of Ondokuz Mayıs University Industrial Engineering Department; Ayşegül Şahin, Hiranur Turhan and Zilal Nur Karabal, and the runners-up of B Category were Erciyes University Industrial Engineering Department's students Atakan Gün, Kübra Işık and Rabia Emilli.
In category C (2-year vocational high school category with the word logistics in the program name) winners were Celal Bayar University Kırkağaç Vocational High School students Ebru Sakallı, Gamze Topan and Buse Yilmaz, and the runners-up were Mine Biricik, Mustafa Erçakır and Nurşin Şili from the same university.
