Pearson, the world's leading education company, has announced that people who want to work, live or study in the UK can now start enrolling for the PTE exam at certain locations around the world.

ISTANBUL (TR) - Today, the UK Government has approved Pearson to register and start providing Secure English Language Testing (SELT) on behalf of the UK Visa and Immigration Service (UKVI) in 20 centers, including China. Registrations can be made to all 20 centers, 11 of which are open to the exam and the remaining nine will be opened when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. The remaining SELT test centers, including the UK, are expected to be phased in throughout this summer.

The tests will be carried out over the Pearson VUE test center network. All operating test centers will continue to comply with the directions and announcements of local health officials to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including social distance, to ensure the safety of test takers and staff. Speaking about the subject, Pearson English Senior Vice President of Assessment and Evaluation, Freya Thomas Monk said: “I am pleased that we are currently able to take the PTE exam for some UKVI centers. We recommend those who take the exam to review all relevant travel restrictions and health and safety requirements before traveling.”

Pearson VUE Senior Vice President Gary A Gates added: “We are happy to begin conducting Secure English Language Tests in our global test center network. This fully digital test uses artificial intelligence technology to measure the English language proficiency of exam participants around the world impartially and extremely precisely.”

Details of the Pearson SELT tests that focus on immigration criteria are as follows:

• PTE Academic (UKVI) - four basic language skill tests accepted for work and study visas. It measures speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.
• PTE Home - two basic language skill tests accepted for applications for family, residence permit and citizenship as well as for Athletes and Overseas Business Representatives. Measures speaking and listening skills.
