Teyit has become a member of the European Confirmation Standards Network (EFCSN), which was established to develop verification standards in Europe.
TURKEY - The application by Teyit to the European Fact-Checking Standards Network (EFCSN), which works to develop standards in transparency, methodology, and independence by bringing together fact-checking organizations, has been accepted.
Teyit's membership in the EFCSN signifies another confirmation of its impartiality and transparency by an international organization. Independent auditors have confirmed that Teyit adheres to EFCSN principles.
The EFCSN principles were published last year with the signature of 44 organizations, including Teyit. By adopting these principles, Teyit has committed to having an open and transparent methodology, being non-partisan, fair, and objective in its publications, having an honest correction policy, and being transparent organizationally and financially. Compliance with these principles by Teyit will be audited every two years by independent evaluators.
Since 2017, Teyit has been a signatory of the International Fact-Checking Network's (IFCN) Code of Principles. This guide also includes principles such as impartiality, fairness, editorial independence, and transparency. Whether Teyit adheres to these standards is regularly audited by independent evaluators.
Teyit, which has examined about 4,000 pieces of suspicious information circulating on the internet, including periods of disasters, economic crises, and elections, has an accuracy rate of 99.8%.
Gülin Çavuş, Co-founder and Vision and Strategy Manager of Teyit, made the following statement regarding the issue: "In a period when the media is associated with bias and disinformation is rampant, we value both pursuing the truth and performing high standard fact-checking. EFCSN membership has been added to the steps we have taken so far to maintain and advance our neutrality, independence, and transparency. It is very valuable for us to have our work audited by international organizations and to receive feedback from our readers. In addition, as an organization on the EFCSN board, we are working to raise fact-checking standards together with other fact-checkers in Europe."
