TURKEY — The Web3 concept, which started to gain popularity in 2021, and used for a new decentralized version of the Internet built on blockchains, has become the focus of attention of corporate brands despite the developments in the blockchain ecosystem in 2022 and 2023. A report by NFT Technologies found that during 2022 and the first quarter of 2023, 315 brands launched a total of 526 Web3 projects.

From restaurant chains to textile giants

With the increasing acceptance of Web3 technology, decentralized finance applications and cryptocurrencies around the world, brands that understand the potential of technology have started to invest in Web3. According to the report, world-famous brands from different sectors, including textile giants such as Zara, H&M, and Prada, sports brands such as Adidas and Puma, and restaurant chains such as PizzaHut and McDonald's, have been among the brands that have launched Web3 projects to date.

Didem Gülyuva, who noted that Web3 has left behind a marketing word feature by proving its true value, said, “As Web3 usage scenarios become more widespread, the rate of adoption increases as we understand what reality the concept corresponds to. According to the report, it is quite striking that 40% of the projects initiated by brands last longer than 1 year.

Nine out of 10 people think having an NFT is an “advantage"

On the other hand, another study conducted by DappRadar found that 92% of research participants felt it was advantageous to have NFTs that could benefit them. Noting that NFTs, an indispensable concept of the Web3 concept, are a powerful tool for building community, Didem Gülyuva said, “Brands want to exist in every area where they can interact with their consumers and potential target audiences. Web3 users also correspond to a substantial audience. NFTs, one of the possibilities of Web3, are positioned as a means of advocacy, admiration and brand loyalty, and brands can create loyalty programs for this audience with high purchasing power by using NFT and Web3 opportunities.
