TURKEY - According to data compiled by the World Economic Forum, the construction industry is responsible for 37% of global energy-related carbon emissions, while 69% of these emissions come from the operation of existing buildings. While transforming the industry into an environmentally sensitive industry is critical to building a more livable world, many countries find the solution in wooden structures that bring benefits both environmentally and economically. Wood, which has been used in construction processes for thousands of years, is still positioned as the only renewable construction material. In the context of the developing circular economy, the zero-waste building material wood, which can be used for energy production after its useful life has expired, also acts as a carbon store in the long run. LSK Yapısal Ahşap, which contributes to sustainability by promoting the use of wood in buildings in our country with the support of raw materials, also works to create public opinion in order to inform the public about the benefits of using wood as a building material.

Recep Yağcızeybek, Chairman of the Board of Directors of LSK Structural Wood, comments: “The damage caused by the construction industry to the environment paved the way for wood to be preferred in building materials. While wood is in high demand as a sustainable construction material, it has also come to the fore with other benefits it provides. At the beginning of these, the transportation of the material is cheap, the installation is easy and economical, followed by the thermal insulation property and resistance to acids. The use of wood is increasing day by day in many geographies, especially in countries such as Finland, Poland, Sweden and Spain. We are also trying to spread this practice in our country. In this way, we aim to reduce the impact of the climate crisis in our country.”

Exports wood to different countries

Saying that they started their activities with the factory they established in Russia in 2013, Recep Yağcızeybek said, “The adventure of our products, which started with the leasing and harvesting of the world's best quality Scotch pine forests, continues in our state-of-the-art wood factories. Today, we export our products, which are divided into classes with the help of optical readers, to different countries with their wiped, baked and smooth surfaces. We carry out our activities in all our business processes, from the production to the transportation of all our products in our portfolio, with an awareness of environmental responsibility. We are constantly improving our work in order to use natural resources in the most efficient way.”

He works with more than 1,500 woodworkers in Turkey

Noting that they provide services not only in the sale of wooden materials, but also in many areas related to building construction, LSK Yapısal Ahşap Chairman of the Board Recep Yağcızeybek said, “Our current product range spans from wood paint to parquet, from indoor and outdoor paneling to flooring materials. We deliver our products to all over Turkey as well as different countries and we ship on the same day. We serve not only those who want to construct a building, but also those who want to cover their house with wood. We allow them to communicate with over 1,500 LSK certified woodworkers across Turkey.”

Recep Yağcızeybek concluded: “We act with the principle of perfect customer satisfaction. We also assist our customers in many issues after sales. We derive our strength and motivation from our diversity, teamwork and the principle of continuous improvement. We take wood from being an element of decoration and make it a part of life. We are happy to contribute to the construction of a more livable world.”
