ISTANBUL (TR) - #SharingDay, the Turkey implementation of #GivingTuesday, an international campaign carried out under the country coordination of the Third Sector Foundation of Turkey (TÜSEV), is celebrated with great enthusiasm today (Tuesday, 30 November) with hundreds of participants.
The #SharingDay, which was implemented in more than 70 countries around the world with the idea that there is something everyone can do for a more generous and just world, aims to contribute to the solution of a problem they see around them, to spread the activities that they create social benefit, and to celebrate donations and volunteering. It is aimed to celebrate the #SharingDay every year as a day in which the importance of solidarity is remembered by contributing to the spread of the culture of donation in Turkey, especially after the shopping period that increased with the end of the year campaigns.
Rana Kotan, Secretary General of the Third Sector Foundation of Turkey (TÜSEV), who is the country coordinator of the campaign, states that they aim for #SharingDay, which is celebrated for the second time in Turkey, to turn into a day that all participants embrace, find a piece of themselves and celebrate with increasing hope and excitement: “As TUSEV, #SharingDay has a very important place within the scope of our efforts to spread the effective donation culture in Turkey. With the works carried out on #SharingDay, which is shaped especially by the contribution of the non-governmental organizations that are a part of it, their work and long-term preparations, we not only emphasize giving back to the society, the empowering feeling of sharing and generosity, but also the efforts of ourselves and the organizations for our efforts in all these activities. We celebrate the solidarity here by making it visible once again.”
On November 30, #SharingDay, which anyone who is a part of it can celebrate as they wish, NGOs launch their campaigns focusing on various purposes such as raising awareness, fundraising, and increasing the number of volunteers. Private sector organizations celebrate #SharingDay with the activities they organize by diversifying their in-house volunteering activities and collaborations with civil society. Educational institutions also carry out studies focusing on the meaning and importance of #SharingDay. Individuals become a part of this generosity movement by sharing their time, expertise or assets with those in need as they wish. All stakeholders contribute to the awareness and celebration of this special day by more people and institutions by disseminating their activities on social media using the hashtag #SharingDay.
