To prepare children for the future, it is necessary to equip them with the skills of the 21st century

Digital transformation poses new requirements not only for professions but also for the education system. Emphasizing that children should be equipped with the 21st century's competencies so that they can be a part of the transformation, the Founding Partner of Hybrid Child Buse Burdurlu said, "We do not know the future professions of  our children, but it is possible to prepare them for the future with the right education program."

The digital transformation, which accelerated in the pandemic, has affected the professions of the future as much as the current business lines. According to the “The Future of Our Business” report by McKinsey, current technologies will allow 50% of work worldwide to be automated. In Turkey, 3 out of 5 professions can be automated at a rate of 30%. Buse Burdurlu, the founding partner of the educational institution Hybrit Child, who said that the future professions of today's children and the competencies they need to be successful are changing rapidly with the digital transformation, stated as follow, “We see that both parents and students are worried about preparing for the future. Because within the scope of digital transformation, we reached the point we envisaged to reach in the long term in a short time like one year, and this created an environment of uncertainty about the professions of the future. We do not know the future professions of children, but it is possible to prepare them for the future with the right education program.”

We want to raise a generation that artificial intelligence cannot take away from its profession.

Buse Burdurlu, who mentioned that as Hybrid Child, they offer a training program to help children gain the skills of the 21st century, said, “We are working to raise lifelong learners who have acquired the skills and experiences required by the digital age. In this context, we offer many courses in the fields of technology and production, discussion skills, creativity, psychology and physical activity to our students aged 5-17. Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Education Deputy Dean, Head of Computer and Educational Technologies Department Assoc. Dr. In line with the curriculum we prepared with the consultancy of Yavuz Samur, we want to raise a generation that is ready for global competition, has multidisciplinary and digital literacy, has the ability to see challenges, opportunities and problems from more than one perspective, and more importantly, artificial intelligence cannot take away their profession.”

It is possible to prepare our children for the future by gaining the competencies of the 21st century.

Talking about 21st century competencies, Burdurlu said, “In addition to flexibility, problem solving and critical thinking, creativity, universality, technology literacy and multidisciplinary perspective; science and mathematics skills, social skills and communication skills are among the competencies of the 21st century. It is imperative that we offer an education system that teaches students to question, argue and gain a critical thinking structure, and develop their technological and cognitive abilities, which are inevitable for the digital age. In other words, we should raise individuals who are technology literate, who know how to use the data correctly, who have innovation skills and creativity, and who are always flexible to the changing dynamics of the world.
