İSTANBUL (TR) - The remote working model that has become widespread during the pandemic process and made permanent by many companies, especially those with a summer house opened the season early. With the pandemic measures and the desire to get away from the crowd of the city with the warming of the weather, the number of people who have already settled in their summer houses has increased, just like the winter houses, the sleeves have been rolled up to make the summer houses suitable for the new conditions. Explaining the decoration trends of this year, Interior Architect Umut Mehmet Güler stated that the smart home concept is intense in summer interior designs and non-contact is at the forefront. Güler said, “One of the main habits we have acquired during the pandemic process is to have less contact. Even though we especially avoid the contact of money, we also approach countless surfaces that are in common use, such as electric switches, taps, door handles, from a distance. This situation transforms the summer houses, which we have decorated as resting and purification areas until today, into smart homes where the contact points are minimized.”
Stating that people spend more time at home, especially in kitchens, Interior Architect Umut Mehmet Güler said, “We see that the smart home concept first started in kitchens. In smart kitchen designs, especially hands-free technologies, which are activated by smartphones or voice, are dominant. In addition to lights and fixtures, white goods such as ovens and refrigerators are also renewed with remotely controlled models. In addition to all these, decorations aimed at increasing the range of motion and reducing very close contact with the household in closed areas are also at the forefront. The organizing wall shelves and multi-purpose folding tables are the main furniture of this concept.”
Interior Architect Güler also drew attention to the increasing need for special outdoor designs in summer houses: “Summer houses are no longer just a place to relax, but also places for study, hobby and entertainment. Since it is not possible to spend time freely in the open air, unfortunately, it is of great importance to increase the functionality of the outdoor designs of the garden houses. At this point, we see that roof gardens, micro back gardens and balconies are transformed into more effective living spaces, and they are included in even the most compact houses. There is an effort to establish a connection between living spaces and nature, especially with folding glass doors. Outdoor workspaces are one of the most increasing needs. It is now possible to see the tables and chairs needed in a comfortable work area in furniture preferred for outdoor decoration.”
