İSTANBUL (TR) - Information technologies (IT) comes at the beginning of the sectors that gender inequality is most intense in Turkey. According to the Association of Women in Technology WTECH the data rate of the female workforce in the IT sector in Turkey has a fairly small share of 9.9%. In the face of this negative table, the Turkish technology company operating in the fields of data management and analytics, the CALIGO launched a program named Women@CALIGO to implement their gender equality commitments with concrete targets and practices. Within the scope of the program where the practices of women balancing their responsibilities in their business and private lives, the company has taken a significant step in the past days. Caligo participated in the women's Empowerment Principles (WEPS) platform, created in partnership with the UN unit for Gender Equality and women's empowerment (UN WOMEN) and the UN Global Compact (UN Global Compact), operates data management, data analytics and business intelligence was the first signatory in the field.

Aims to be an example to the sector

Muharrem Işeri, Managing Partner of Caligo, said: “52% of the candidates we invited to the job interview last year are 63% of the employees. 68% of our employees who are promoted in the same period. These are very precious indicators that we are constantly pursuing to make sure that we manage and manage the female-male balance in all processes in all processes. At all, we have stable efforts we hope to be an example of the sector. Depending on this purpose, we have been signatory to the principles of the woman (WEPS) under the roof of the United Nations (UN), including these commitments to our company.”

The responsibility of children do not only belong to women

Almost two-thirds of its employees are women, and under the Women@CALIGO program, the company reports that it does not discriminate on the basis of wages with an equal pay policy for equal value work, tracks gender-separated data at every break, and takes data-based actions to establish equality. Considering child care as the responsibility of parents, not women, CALIGO gives parents extra time off on their children's first day of school and report card days to ensure the work-life balance of their employees. It implements practices for its female employees that they will not experience interruptions in their career after and after maternity leave.

Caligo Managing Partner Umut Işcan also cites the initial point of Women@Caligo as follows: “Research shows that a very large portion of the unpaid labor for chores (76.2%) are undertaken by women. In addition, women have three times more time than men in addition to the responsibilities they carry in business life.”

“We can have a balanced table in IT, a male-dominated sector”

Umut Işcan also points out that they support more women to pursue careers for longer, both with the program they implement and with the principles of empowerment of women they are signatories to: “No female employee who is pregnant and goes on maternity leave receives a pay cut, but rather the pay increase and promotions that they should receive in normal time continue. So all the barriers to their potential are lifted and their career paths are never closed. We believe that as we continue to take these steps, we can achieve a balanced picture in IT, a male-dominated sector.”
