İSTANBUL (TR) - Increased digitalization along with the pandemic has accelerated the work in the field of information and communication technologies (IT) in Turkey, as well as all over the world. According to the “Digitalization Index Report of Turkey” prepared by TUBISAD, the digitalization rating of our country rose from 2.94 out of 5 in 2019 to 3.06 in 2020. This increase was reflected in employment, the number of employees in the sector exceeded 150 thousand in 2020. Enes Güren, Deputy General Manager of the Turkish technology company Porte, who evaluated the issue, predicted that growth will continue in 2021 and noted that the most need is for qualified programmers. Güren said, “TUBİSAD's report shows that 73% of companies lack qualified workforce. While the remote working model increases the need for qualified software developers, the brain drain that has increased in the last year poses a threat to the growth of domestic technology companies.”
According to the Digitalization Index, Enes Güren stated that even though the education system has increased the competence of providing IT skills from 2.19 to 2.23 and universities give more graduates than the industry needs, Enes Güren said, “As Porte, we have been exporting technology development services to abroad since 2006. With the talent and resources we have, we can carry out major operations in more than 25 countries of the world at the same time. However, the accelerating digital transformation requires greater range of motion and more talent. Every day we find it difficult to find talented software developers. We want abroad to be preferred for education rather than career, and we ensure that our software developers participate in international training programs.”
Stating that they are aiming to become a ‘Talent house by supporting the development of qualified programmers, Enes Güren said, “With the investments we make in different companies and our partnerships, we are growing day by day, while we can ship anywhere in the world with a brand such as Shipzip, on the other hand, we are able to prepare the payment infrastructure of a large bank. We offer shopping opportunities in global markets with our initiatives in America, Boxinus and Shippn. We deliver this rapid growth cycle to talented software developers within our organization. Thus, our employees become part of a global digital ecosystem; and plays an important role in enriching the corporate culture. We offer successful software developers the opportunity to make their dreams come true by providing enterprise support. We also spend a lot of energy to recruit new software developers.”
Stating that they recently focused on new business models on the technology side, Porte IT Manager Dr. Vural Erol said, “We are constantly producing new projects in our R&D center. In addition to the projects we carry out for our own brands, we also take care to recruit software developers with different competencies to our team for the services we offer to the outside. Our door is always open with software developers who have knowledge of different technologies or programs such as Python, MongoDB, ASP.Net, C # and T-SQL, MVC, HTML5 / JavaScript / CSS, JSON, AWS, .NetCore. We ensure that at least 50 hours of annual training is provided by the company to the entire team within our R&D center.”
