SMEs sold 42 million products in 2019 thanks to e-commerce

IdeaSoft has announced the 2019 results of the “SME E-commerce Report” published every year since 2013. According to the report, which examined more than 8,000 virtual stores, 42 million products were sold last year with 5.1 million orders. The total turnover of SMEs in e-commerce grew 80% compared to the previous year, exceeding 1.6 billion TL in Turkey.

The most striking point in the results of IdeaSoft “SME E-Commerce Report 2019” was the rate of traffic coming from mobile devices to e-commerce sites. 75.7% of page views were done on mobile devices; the desktop viewing rate was recorded as 24.3%. While the number of desktop orders remained at 2 million 189 thousand 621, the number of mobile orders reached 2 million 950 thousand 333. When the return to sales ratio of the page views is analyzed, the desktop, which maintained its leadership in the order in 2018, drew a similar picture in 2019. Eastern Anatolia recorded a 114% growth in online shopping

While the most preferred area for online shopping is Marmara with 42.73%, Central Anatolia with 14.99%, Aegean with 14.23%, the Mediterranean with 9.88%, the Black Sea with 9.45%, 4.51% Eastern Anatolia and 4.21% followed by Southeastern Anatolia. Compared to the previous year, the share of Marmara and Central Anatolia Region between regions decreased, while the shares of other regions increased significantly. 11% in order shares of Aegean and Mediterranean Region; An increase of 62% in Southeast Anatolia and 97% in the Black Sea has been recorded. However, with the discount days such as Black Friday and Cyber ​​Monday, where the searches on the internet increased 24 times, 'autumn' came to the fore as the season in which the order was placed most. The increasing pace of daily life, on the other hand, directed the users to shop on the other hand during their short intervals during working hours. While consumers prefer the most Monday for internet shopping in 2019, a quarter of the orders are placed between 13.00 - 16.00.

The majority of online stores offering free shipping

In 2018, 49% of online shopping was offered free shipping, while in 2019, this rate reached 51%. Thus, the online stores, which pay the shipping fee, undertook the majority in customer acquisition competition. Aras Kargo was the first with 34%, Yurtiçi Kargo was the second with 27% and MNG Kargo was the third with 14%. MNG was followed by Sürat Kargo with 11%, PTT Cargo and UPS with 4%.
